What is a pay-per-click search engine?
Also known as a bid-for-placement or CPC search engine, WebsiteHostGuide allows you to "buy" a position in search results seen by our visitors. To buy a position, you bid a certain number of cents per click on a keyword phrase.
For example, if you were a bicycle shop, you may want to bid on the keyword phrase "Perl CGI Coders". Let's say that there are currently 3 other advertisers bidding on this keyword:
Mary's Code Shop - Cost to Advertiser: $.05 Joe's Perl Shop - Cost to Advertiser: $.03 Sally's CGI Script Shop - Cost to Advertiser: $.02
If you bid one cent per click (the minimum), you would be in position #4, just below Sally's CGI Script Shop. If you bid 4 cents, you would be in position #2, just above Joe's. If you bid 6 cents, you would be in position #1 and receive the most traffic.
The "cost to advertiser", also known as the bid price, is how much that advertiser is charged when a visitor goes to their site. So in the example above Mary is paying 5 cents per click to be in the #1 position. If Barry does a search on "Perl CGI Coders" and clicks on Mary's search listing, Mary's account is debited 5 cents. When Mary's account runs out of funds, Mary's search listing is removed automatically and Joe's search listing would move up to position #1.
What happens if my competitor just keeps clicking my listing over and over?
WebsiteHostGuide has advanced security measures in place. Blocking "multiple clicks" from the same visitor is one of our most fundamental click blocking technologies. If we didn't protect our customers we would not be around very long!
How much does it cost to open an account with you?

What is the minimum bid per click?
You can bid as little as 1 cent per click. The more you bid per click the higher you are listed. You determine how much you are willing to pay.
How does the Bid-Per-Click system handle tie bids?
If two or more keyword phrases are bid upon at the same price, WebsiteHostGuide will give the keyword phase to the first advertiser who bid on that keyword phrase the higher position in the search listings. For example, if there are 3 advertisers who bid 5 cents on a keyword phrase, they will be listed in order of "seniority" at the 5 cent price.
How long does it take to get listed?
Our online sign up process can take as little as 2-10 minutes to sign up. Simply visit the "Sign Up " section of our site to access our online form, fill out the requested information, and then verify your email address.
Once you complete your signup, add bids for the keyword phrases you wish to use, you will receive verification via an email confirmation from WebsiteHostGuide once each listing has been approved. Time for listing approval takes anywhere from 1 hour to two business days, depending on volume. Weekends and Holidays can add time to the approval process.
Can I use any keyword phrase I want?
